Discover Asia’s Most Dynamic City-State
Singapore is a vibrant, forward-thinking destination where sleek skyscrapers rise beside colonial landmarks and tropical gardens thrive in the heart of the city. Efficient, clean and endlessly creative, it’s an ideal base or stopover that punches far above its size in style and experience.
Explore Gardens by the Bay, stroll through colourful heritage neighbourhoods or take in the skyline from a rooftop pool. Visit the bustling hawker centres for world-famous street food, then browse high-end shops along Orchard Road. From the futuristic domes of Marina Bay to the peaceful trails of MacRitchie Reservoir, Singapore offers nature, culture and luxury in perfect balance.
Whether you have 24 hours or a full week, Singapore delivers. Stay in stylish hotels, take guided food tours or explore the city independently with ease. It also pairs beautifully with nearby destinations like Malaysia, Bali or Thailand as part of a wider Southeast Asia journey.
Singapore is a year-round destination with a tropical climate and plenty of indoor attractions for the occasional rain. Events and festivals bring extra colour to the calendar, from Lunar New Year celebrations to the Formula 1 night race and Deepavali street lights.
With Nexus Travel, we’ll help you make the most of your time in Singapore. Whether it’s a luxury city break, a cultural stopover or the start of something bigger, we’ll craft your stay to be seamless, stylish and entirely stress-free.

UK passport holders can enter Singapore without a visa for up to 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your date of arrival. You may be asked for proof of onward travel and sufficient funds.
Best Time to Visit
Singapore is a year-round destination with a warm, humid climate. February to April tends to be the driest and most pleasant period. Showers can occur anytime but are usually brief.
Vaccinations
No mandatory vaccinations are required for Singapore. Routine travel vaccines such as tetanus, hepatitis A, and typhoid are recommended. Dengue is present, so bring mosquito repellent.
Currency
The official currency is the Singapore Dollar (SGD). Credit cards are widely accepted, and ATMs are easily found throughout the city. Cash is useful for hawker stalls and smaller purchases.
Language
Singapore has four official languages: English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. English is the main language for business, education, and signage, so communication is easy for UK travellers.
Electricity
Singapore uses type G plugs, the same as the UK, with a voltage of 230V. No adaptor is needed for UK devices. Power supply is reliable across the country.
Gardens by the Bay
This futuristic park features iconic Supertree structures, a Flower Dome, and the Cloud Forest. It is a must-see for first-time visitors and families alike.
Marina Bay Sands
One of Singapore’s most recognisable buildings, Marina Bay Sands offers shopping, dining, an infinity pool, and views from the SkyPark Observation Deck.
Sentosa Island
Singapore’s resort playground is home to beaches, waterparks, golf courses, and attractions like Universal Studios and S.E.A. Aquarium, perfect for families or fun-filled day trips.
Chinatown & Little India
Explore Singapore’s cultural quarters, known for colourful temples, vibrant markets, and a delicious mix of street food and heritage architecture.
Singapore Zoo & Night Safari
Renowned for its natural enclosures and animal conservation, the zoo is a popular family attraction. The Night Safari offers a unique after-dark wildlife experience.
Singapore River Cruise
Glide along the river for scenic views of Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, and the colonial district. A relaxing way to learn more about Singapore’s past and present.
Getting Around
Singapore’s MRT system is clean, efficient, and easy to use. Buses and taxis are also readily available. Contactless payment and tourist passes are widely accepted on public transport.
Travel Insurance
Although Singapore has excellent healthcare, travel insurance is advised to cover medical costs, cancellations, or lost items. Healthcare services are of a high standard but can be expensive without insurance.
Packing Essentials
Light clothing, sun protection, and a raincoat or umbrella are useful due to the tropical climate. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking around parks and urban areas.
Cleanliness & Fines
Singapore is famous for its cleanliness and safety. Be aware of local laws such as no littering, no smoking in public areas, and no eating or drinking on public transport.
Local Etiquette
Singaporeans are generally polite and respectful. Tipping is not required, but good service is appreciated. Dress modestly in religious sites and follow signage where applicable.
Health & Hygiene
Tap water is safe to drink. Public toilets are clean and widely available. High standards of hygiene make it an easy destination for first-time travellers to Asia.
City in a Garden
Despite its size, Singapore is filled with green spaces and botanical gems. Parks, sky gardens, and tree-lined streets help create its clean and calm atmosphere.
Multicultural Nation
Singapore blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western cultures, creating a diverse and harmonious society. This diversity is reflected in its food, festivals, and architecture.
Food is a National Obsession
Singaporeans are passionate about food. From Michelin-starred restaurants to hawker centres, eating is a daily highlight. Try chilli crab, laksa, and Hainanese chicken rice.
Strict but Safe
Singapore has strict laws that contribute to its low crime rate and orderly environment. It is considered one of the safest cities in the world for travellers.
English as a Main Language
English is the primary working language in Singapore, making it easy to navigate, ask for help, and read signage. This makes it a comfortable entry point into Southeast Asia.
